When you think of Cheba Hut, it is likely that weed-filled imagery enters your mind. Even the name, Cheba Hut, is a reference to marijuana. However, we want you to know that the mary-jane themed sub franchise isn’t all about weed. The theme was conceived as a way to demonstrate that all are welcomed in a time where marijuana was still highly illegal. Cheba Hut’s main goal, that of a family atmosphere and friendly, happy people, extends to everyone, and those who don’t partake in getting high are just as welcomed. This is because Cheba Hut’s focus isn’t to get people interested in marijuana, it’s the fresh, unique, hand-crafted food options that keeps people coming back. With a perfect mix of fun ambiance, great food, and friendly staff, Cheba Hut strives to be different than other fast-casual concepts. We offer a full bar in our restaurants, and guests are encouraged to enjoy themselves and take their time. At some locations, live music is even offered.

“Most fast casuals focus on getting people in and out,” said VP of Marketing Brian Loeb in an interview with FastCasual. “We, on the other hand, encourage people from all walks of life to stay awhile and escape the establishment, even if it’s for just a brief part of their day.”

Cheba Hut has always put food first, above the theme and the anti-establishment attitude. The sub franchise is meant to be a fun, unique place, where every person is accepted. We also encourage families to come visit, as we have many kid-friendly options, . Adults can enjoy the full bar and the humorous weed puns, while children can enjoy food options such as our 4 inch “nug”-sized sandwiches and our “goo balls”, which are balls of cereal stuck together with marshmellowy goodness.

It is also important to note that while the brand focuses on marijuana, there is no marijuana infused into any of our food options, which is a common misconception.
